What are cookies?
Cookies are small files a website can save in your browser, for example to remember you or to count visitors.
Does this website use cookies?
Only if you say yes. The site uses Google Analytics and Metricool to count visits. Google Analytics sets cookies. Both only switch on if you press "Accept" on the cookie message. If you press "Reject", or ignore the message, no analytics cookies are set. There's no advertising or tracking for adverts on this site.
The cookies Google Analytics sets
If you accept, Google Analytics sets these cookies on halldigitaluk.com:
- _ga: tells one visitor apart from another. Lasts up to 2 years.
- _ga_XZW22GHQZ6: keeps track of your visit (your session). Lasts up to 2 years.
I use this to see things like how many people visit, which pages they look at, how they found the site, and how many tap the call or WhatsApp buttons. It doesn't tell me who you are. You can read more about these cookies on Google's help page.
Metricool
If you accept, the site also loads a small tracking image from Metricool, a social media and web statistics tool I use. It records the visit: which page you looked at, the site you came from, your browser and your IP address. Metricool may set its own cookie to tell visits apart. I only see this as statistics, not who you are. You can read more in Metricool's privacy policy.
Remembering your choice
So the message doesn't pop up on every page, your browser saves whether you pressed "Accept" or "Reject". This is kept on your own device (in your browser's storage), isn't sent to anyone, and is only used to remember your choice.
Changing your mind
Press (also at the bottom of every page) to bring the message back and change your choice. If you change to "Reject", the analytics cookies are removed. You can also clear cookies in your browser settings at any time.
Google Fonts
The site uses fonts from Google Fonts. To show them, your browser downloads the fonts from Google's servers. Google says its Fonts service doesn't set or log cookies. Like any website request, it does receive your IP address, which page the fonts are for, and basic details about your browser. Google says it doesn't use this to build profiles or for targeted advertising. You can read more in the Google Fonts privacy FAQ.
Links to other websites
Some buttons take you to other services, such as WhatsApp to message me, or Google to see or leave a review. Those sites may use their own cookies, under their own cookie and privacy policies.
